FAQ – THE CRYPTID EXPERIENCE
Cryptid Studio (Studio Cryptide) – Tattoo and piercing studio in Montreal
Is Cryptid Studio a safe space, especially for queer and neurodivergent people?
Yes. Our tattoo and piercing studio in Montreal is designed to be calm, inclusive and judgment-free. We’re happy to adapt to your needs, whether through extra explanations, a slower pace, a soothing environment or breaks when needed.
Is your studio accessible to everyone?
Yes. We welcome everyone, including people with reduced mobility.
The building and the studio are accessible for wheelchairs and mobility scooters, with a freight elevator, spacious elevators and a double door. Just knock or call us when you arrive if needed.
I’m nervous. Is that normal?
Absolutely. We regularly welcome anxious people and people getting their very first tattoo or piercing. We take the time to guide you through every step, without pressure and at your own pace.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. A support person is welcome.
For safety reasons, your companion may be asked to step out of the room at the exact moment of the piercing.
What is a first tattoo or piercing like at your studio?
We explain every step calmly and nothing is done without your clear consent. You can change your mind or the placement as many times as needed so you feel fully confident.
I’d like to get pierced, but I’m not sure my anatomy allows it. Can you advise me?
Yes. Before any procedure, we always check your anatomy to ensure a safe piercing and good healing.
We also suggest harmonious placements based on your anatomy, style and lifestyle.
Ear or face styling appointments are offered by some members of the team.
Do you offer consultations before the appointment?
Yes. Consultations are offered in person or by message. You can write to us or contact the artist of your choice directly.
What kind of jewelry do you use?
We only use implant-grade jewelry, including ASTM F-136 titanium, solid nickel-free 14k or 18k gold, glass and niobium.
Most of our team are members of the APP (Association of Professional Piercers) and follow the same high standards.
Can I order special jewelry?
Yes. We work with several high-end suppliers and offer special orders. We can also do custom research based on your taste, anatomy and budget.
Do you allow numbing cream?
Yes, for tattoos only. It is never used for piercings. If you’d like to use it for a tattoo, please contact us before your visit to find out how to proceed and to let your artist know.
What are your wait times?
How much does a tattoo cost?
The price of a tattoo depends on the style, placement, size and complexity. The minimum price for any project is $100 + tax. Most tattoos are priced per piece, with the price confirmed before starting. For larger projects, generally three hours or more, an hourly rate starting at $120/h, depending on the artist, may apply. An estimate is provided before the session.
Do you offer tattoo touch-ups?
Yes. Touch-ups are free within four months of the session, under the conditions explained by your artist. For good healing, follow our tattoo aftercare advice.
I have a problem with my piercing. What should I do?
We offer free healing check-ups for all piercings done at the studio. Read our piercing aftercare instructions and don’t hesitate to write to us or book an appointment if you have any concerns. If your piercing was done elsewhere, we’ll also be happy to help during an in-person consultation in Montreal.
Can I get tattooed if I’m a minor?
In some cases, a tattoo can be done from age 16, with parental consent and a parent or legal guardian present.
For piercings, the minimum age varies depending on the placement. Please contact us to find out the applicable conditions and read our studio policies.
